2017 – A Year In Review

Share:

2017 was bursting with new opportunities and experiences for Ometis in all areas, including new clients, Qlik products and range of new events that we attended for the first time.

The flagship events of 2017 have to be the Qlik Sense Tour [QST] and Visualize YOUR World [VYW], two events we were privileged enough to be invited to by Qlik and that allowed us to showcase our services and skills in a new way. This was thanks largely to ForbbidenPlanet.com and the phenomenal Gary Palmer, who provided expert opinion and analysis on both Ometis’ services and Qlik products. Gary’s involvement also meant we could play with lightsabers… it was win win!

This wasn’t the first QST or VYW events that we have been part of, but it was the first time we had the honour of hosting the final QST event in the UK before the tour continued into Europe. Instead, Big Data Analytics was the event we attended for the first time in 2017.

Another memorable event was IP Expo, it was the second year we had attended this event, where we were joined by Qlik’s Paul Winsor, who’s seminar on the power of IoT data went down a storm!

Events play an important role in the Ometis calendar. Not just because they provide the opportunity to meet new people, all of whom get excited about the power of Qlik and the opportunities it provides, they also enable us to stay at the forefront of development and BI trends. By keeping our fingers on the button, we’re able to provide unparalleled service to our clients.

Another way of keeping ourselves up-to-date with all the latest developments with regards to Qlik is attending the annual Qonnections event. In 2017, this took place in Orlando and so, in May, we all boarded a flight across the pond. Everyone in the team always enjoys Qonnections because there’s such a wealth of knowledge there, we always leave bursting with ideas.

Those ideas have come into play with some of the new clients who joined us in 2017. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for their continued support and let you know that we’re looking forward to working with you throughout 2018.

It’s not only clients that kept us on our toes last year though – 2017 was the first year Qlik launched planned updates around the Qlik Sense product. There were updates throughout the year and each one continued to improve the platform’s features and performance. There are another five updates planned for 2018, so make sure you keep your eyes on Ometis as we’ll have all the latest information once an update goes live.

This ties into another area we focussed on during 2017, and that was training. We had already evolved our training process in 2016 and those changes came into full force last year. Training is another important part of what we do. It not only allows our clients and fellow Qlik users the chance to gain insight and understanding of the innovative platform, it also means we can keep ourselves up-to-date with all the issues, concerns and overall general feedback on Qlik and its products.

This information means we can remain dynamic and provides us with a deeper understanding of how our services and products are used. This enables us to build an accurate picture of how Qlik’s consistent evolutions are being received and hear regular feedback. The training programmes for the first two quarters of 2018 have already been scheduled, so if you want to learn about Qlik, please take a look at our training page on the website.

To summarise, 2017 was another great year for Ometis and now we’re eager to get stuck into 2018. We’ll be sharing our BI trends and predictions for the year soon, so be sure to read that once it’s live. In the meantime, you can catch up on all the things we got up to in 2017 in the blog section of our website.

2017 – it was another great year but here’s to an even greater 2018!
